Tonight’s guest is Professor Norman Finkelstein, an assistant
professor of political science at DePaul University and one of the
foremost scholars on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict writing today.
Professor Finkelstein is known for exposing fraudulent scholarship
and outright plagiarism by apologists supportive of Israel’s actions
in the Middle East, authors like Joan Peters and her work From
Time Immemorial (a criticism that nearly cost Finkelstein his
career because of its accuracy) and more recently Alan
Dershowitz’s The Case for Israel.
Both of Professor Finkelstein’s parents were Holocaust survivors.
As well as being a much sought-after speaker and debater,
Professor Finkelstein is the author of five books: Beyond
Chutzpah: On the misuse of anti-Semitism and the Abuse of
History; The Holocaust Industry: Reflections on the exploitation of
Jewish suffering; Image and Reality of the Israel-Palestine
Conflict; A Nation on Trial: The Goldhagen Thesis and Historical
Truth (with Ruth Bettina Birn); The Rise and Fall of Palestine: A
Personal Account of the Intifada Years.

although planned in advance, is timely given the recent outbreak
of hostilities occurring in Gaza, Lebanon and Israel.
